Mike Krukow joined Murph & Mac on KNBR Monday morning to recap the Giants’ series in New York, as well as talk about how the Giants will get out of their slump.

One of the biggest problems Krukow mentioned is how, not only are the Giants missing three main pieces in Matt Duffy, Joe Panik and Hunter Pence, but Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford are also struggling. It is hard enough to overcome three injuries to key players, but when main RBI guys all begin to slump simultaneously, teams often struggle.

Although Jeff Samardzija struggled in his start against the Yankees, he did show signs of improvement from his last start in San Diego. Krukow discussed the differences he saw in the Giants starter, especially in regards to his off-speed pitches.

“The breaking ball was really good,” Krukow said. “He was getting a lot of first pitch strikes with it. It was real quick and it wasn’t lazy.”

With the trade deadline approaching, Krukow also touched on how the Giants will be buyers as they look to make the playoffs. With the bullpen struggling, finding a new arm will be the main focus, but they could scan for another bat, as well.
