Takeo Spikes: ‘Don’t have to be a rocket scientist’ to know it’s time for Kaepernick to play

Former San Francisco 49er linebacker Takeo Spikes joined the Audible on Monday morning, and didn’t mince words when asked if it’s time for the Niners to make a change at the quarterback position.

“I do believe so,” Spikes said. “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist or you don’t have to be involved in the game that much to be considered an expert to know that it’s time for Colin Kaepernick to come in and play. When you look at the lethargic play or the lack of output the offense has been able to produce it pretty much goes to show you.”

Blaine Gabbert struggled in Sunday’s 37-18 loss to Seattle, going 14-0f-25 for 119 yards with an interception and a quarterback rating of 51.9.

“When you look at it, the output isn’t there,” Spikes said. “This is supposed to be a high octane offense. When you look at it from that perspective, why not?
