49ers play-by-play man Ted Robinson joined Murph & Mac to discuss the 49ers’ problems.

There’s a lot of them.

“The lack of passion and the dispirited play on defense was glaring,” was one telling quote from Robinson, the team’s play-by-play broadcaster.

Another concern the 49ers is the lack of a consistent running game. Seven of Carlos Hyde’s 14 carries were for 2 yards or less.

“To me, statistically, that’s an indication that the running game is not working,” Robinson said.

Defensively, it seems clear that the 49ers could mix things up for a struggling defense that needs inspiration. After three straight fourth-quarter collapses, San Francisco is searching for something to desperately hang their hat on for the defense.

This week’s game against the Buccaneers will reveal the character of the team. As five straight losses have demoralized both the fan base and the roster.
