It’s been nearly two months since 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation on social justice reform. Many fans and pundits have been wondering if Kaepernick is putting his cause for social justice reform ahead of his football.

NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche joined Gary and Larry on Wednesday to discuss Kaepernick’s cause continuing in Buffalo. Wyche says that he does not believe Kaepernick is a losing focus on his football because of the issues is fighting for.

“No, I was there, I was at the game. But he was asked questions about his social stance more so than the fan reaction to him, because it was very hostile,” Wyche said.

However, for the 49ers, Kaepernick’s cause might be a blessing from a pure football standpoint. For a team that is 1-5, Kaepernick is turning focus away from a bad football team.

“The 49ers should be grateful, it’s a convenient cover for a bad football team. No one’s talking about how bad of a team they are right now,” Wyche said.

It remains to be seen whether the 49ers quarterback can stay on the field the rest of the season. However, it is clear that the discussion he started will continue; no matter which side of the argument you are on.
