In a move that is hardly shocking, the Giants have reportedly elected to retain starting pitcher Matt Moore for the 2017 season.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that San Francisco has exercised the $7 million team option to retain the left-hander’s services for next season.

The Giants also hold team options on Moore for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, worth $9 and $10 million respectively.

Re-signing the 27-year-old is a no-brainer for the Giants, after Moore was stellar down the stretch for San Francisco, pitching a gem in the last series of the season against the Dodgers to help the Giants clinch the playoffs, and throwing eight superb innings in Game 4 of the NLDS against the World Champion Chicago Cubs.
