The San Francisco 49ers put together the best performance of their season last week since their season opening shutout win against the Rams. However, the team still came up short losing to Miami 31-24 when Colin Kaepernick failed to reach the end zone on the last play of the game.

49ers color analyst Tim Ryan joined Murph & Mac Friday morning and said the game plan against Chicago this week should be similar to last week.

“I think it’s the same thing man. Spread them out, get in three wides, and run the that read zone and expose their linebackers,” Ryan said.

The 49ers also did a better job of stopping the run last week, as they held Miami to 95 yards of total rushing. Ryan believes that improved linebacker play has been a key in the 49ers playing better against the run.

“But really, it’s the ‘backers to me,” Ryan said. “It’s the outside backers squeezing the edge and shrinking those holes just by lining up tighter on the tight end other than way out in that nine technique, where you’re just opening a hole by alignment.”
