It appears that new general manager John Lynch is already taking steps to shake up the 49ers front office.

“I’ve had a phone married to my ear all day long,” Lynch told reporters on Monday. “I didn’t know that was part of this job, but it certainly is and so I’ve had a phone to my ear all day and I’ve been working hard to try to do that.”

One of those phone calls, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, was in regards to an interview request. The 49ers will bring in Broncos director of college scouting Adam Peters.

Peters has been with the Broncos for the past eight years, serving in various scouting positions with the team. He’s been in the NFL for 13 seasons, too. Peters, of course, works under John Elway, who Lynch has said is one of his close mentors.

In his report, Florio states that he does not think this takes former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik out of the running for a position in San Francisco’s front office.

Peters, a highly respected member of the Broncos front office, will reportedly interview to become the 49ers’ director of player personnel role. During their search for a general manager, the 49ers’ scouting department ran mostly uninterrupted.

It remains to be seen how this hire will impact the statuses of Tom Gamble and the rest of San Francisco’s scouting department. Lynch did give Gamble an endorsement Monday on his conference call.

“I will say for someone like Tom Gamble, he’s got a ton of experience in this business and I’d be a fool not to sit down and soak that up and I’m eager to do that,” Lynch said. “Like I said before, I’m very appreciative and I can’t wait to communicate how appreciative I am to the people in the building that are working really hard while things are kind of in flux and very soon we are all going to all be working together.”
