OAKLAND — With his latest 10-day contract expiring, the Warriors have decided to release guard Briante Weber.

Steve Kerr made the announcement during his post game press conference following the 112-95 Saturday win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Kerr said it was an extremely difficult decision, but the team decided it would be in their best interest to add more of a true point guard. A roster move is expected to be announced within the upcoming days.

Weber originally claimed Anderson Varejao’s spot on the roster. Entering Saturday’s game, Weber had appeared in six games, averaging 7.3 minutes per game.

The Cavaliers are reportedly set to add point guard Deron Williams to their roster next week. It’s up in the air if the Warriors will offer the roster spot to a buyout player, or seek another 10-day contract from a D-League player.
