SANTA CLARA – We have a unanimous decision. Quote of the afternoon goes to new 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.
The speedster joins the San Francisco 49ers from the Buffalo Bills, signing (reportedly) a two year deal worth up to $8 million. Goodwin hasn’t yet lit up the scoreboard in his four seasons in the league. His most productive year was in 2016, when he caught 29 receptions for 431 yards and three touchdowns.
Yet, Goodwin doesn’t seem concerned with his lack of eye-popping statistics. He gave the perfect answer to why stats aren’t everything Friday afternoon when the 49ers rolled out their free agent signings.
‘When you’re invested like I am, when you’re a team player like I am, a lot of times statistics don’t matter,” said Goodwin. “Stats are like seeing a girl in a bikini. It shows a lot, but it doesn’t show anything.”
