Fitz: NBA players play in higher percentage of games than other pro athletes

Often times you hear something repeated so frequently that it somehow becomes reality, when in fact, it is completely false. This is the current case with the Warriors resting Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in the game vs. San Antonio on March 11.

All the pathetic hand wringing, “what about people who bought tickets?” and “why do NBA players take days off,” etc. Just completely inane commentary. And of course people are either too lazy or just too dense to actually seek the truth.

Would it shock you to know that NBA players play in a vastly higher percentage of their team’s games than other professional athletes?  Maybe toss in a few facts before barking out just blatant untruths?

In the past 5 seasons to the present, Steph Curry has played in over 96 percent of the Warriors games. Draymond Green over 97 percent.  Klay Thompson over 97 percent.

By comparison, here is the starting lineup for the 2016 MLB All-Stars and the percentage of their team’s games played.  Not ONE single MLB All-Star has played in more of their team’s games than Curry, Green or Thompson.

People are entitled to their own opinions. But they are not entitled to their own facts. Sometimes it helps to live in reality. Something tells me that we won’t be hearing the echo chamber of complaints every time Buster Posey or Brandon Crawford miss a game due to “rest” this Giants season.
