After being diagnosed with ALS in 2011, former New Orleans Saint defensive back Steve Gleason has become a visibly spokesperson for the disease.
The recent documentary entitled “Gleason” gave viewers a powerful and heartbreaking look behind the scenes of the rampant effects ALS can take on the human body. ALS has robbed Gleason of his motor skills, but not his spirit.
On Sunday night, 49ers legend Dwight Clark announced he has been diagnosed with ALS. There has been an outpouring of support from the Faithful, but perhaps no message was stronger than the one Gleason had.
