SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco Giants have signed broadcasters Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper each to multi-year contract extensions, club President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Baer announced today.

“I am thrilled that two of the most treasured Giants of all time – Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper – will remain in the Giants broadcast booth for the foreseeable future,” said Baer. “Kruk and Kuip do more than just broadcast our games. They are the connection between the Giants and many of our fans who follow us on our broadcasts. They turn every game into a family get-together and they create a narrative that goes way beyond what happens on the field.”

The duo, who were teammates as players with the Giants from 1983-85, are entering their 24th season of working together on NBC Sports Bay Area broadcasts. Kuiper will also work on KNBR broadcasts, while Krukow will continue to serve as the color analyst on the club’s NBC Bay Area telecasts as well as on KNBR.

Kuiper, a ten-time Emmy award-winning broadcaster, begins his 33rd season as a Major League announcer. He embarks on his 24th consecutive year in the NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Bay Area and KNBR Radio broadcast booths in 2017. Kuiper was one of 10 finalists for the 2014 Ford C. Frick Award for baseball broadcasting excellence. The former 11-year big league infielder has received ten local Emmy awards for his distinguished broadcasting career. He provided commentary for the Giants from 1987-92 and served a one-year stint with the expansion Colorado Rockies in 1993.

“I am ecstatic about this new contract with the San Francisco Giants,” said Kuiper. “I am thrilled to be able to work with three of my best friends and to continue to have the opportunity to be part of a tremendous organization like the Giants.”

Krukow enters his 27th season in the television booth and his 23rd full season on the radio side. A nine-time Emmy award winner, Krukow is the broadcast team’s color analyst on NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Bay Area telecasts, and on KNBR Radio broadcasts. Krukow was one of eight finalists for the 2017 Ford C. Frick Award for baseball broadcasting excellence. He was named California’s 2015 Sportscaster of the Year, as selected by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. The former big league pitcher played 14 seasons at the Major League level.

“I’m thrilled to continue to be able to tell the story of the San Francisco Giants,” said Krukow. “I am so proud of our broadcast team and all the people that put on Giants baseball.”

With today’s announcement, the Giants have insured that the game’s best broadcasting crew will be in San Francisco for the foreseeable future. Kuiper and Krukow join the “Voice of the Giants” Jon Miller and Dave Flemming as the most accomplished announcing crew in baseball.
