Bochy and Bumgarner have heartfelt words for Brandon Crawford and his family

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Giants lost to the Colorado Rockies 3-1 Thursday night, but that wasn’t the main reason for the somber mood in the clubhouse after the game.

Following Wednesday’s game, shortstop Brandon Crawford drove to Los Angeles to be with his wife Jalynne, after the passing of her sister Jennifer Pippin. Crawford flew back to San Francisco Thursday afternoon, but was left out of the starting lineup after a night of very little sleep.

“It’s been a tough 24 hours for Brandon,” said Bochy. “You feel for him with what he’s had to deal with here. His long last night, and here comes up to join us and help us try to win a ballgame. It says a lot about Brandon.

“He didn’t have to be here.”
