SAN FRANCISCO – It’s a call we’re sure Christian Arroyo had been looking forward to making for more than half his life…the call to tell his mother that he’d be playing in the top baseball league on the planet. Only one problem.
His mom wouldn’t believe him.
“She just kept saying, ‘No you’re lying, you’re lying, you’re lying,’” Arroyo told reporters before his first game Monday night. “I’m sure she’s still crying right now.
“I was just very persistent, with me saying ‘you gotta believe me,’” said Arroyo. “At that time, it wasn’t public yet so there was really nothing she could see that said that I was in the lineup tonight.”
Well, she believes him now:
