Bochy: ‘I thought we would come home and get some rips’ but it ‘didnt happen’

SAN FRANCISCO-Friday night the San Francisco Giants home stand started with a fizzle despite a strong performance by Matt Cain through 7 innings.

Both teams we’re struggling to capitalize on hits but the Atlanta Braves finally broke through in the 7th inning on a throw from outfield that hit the runner. This deflected ball allowed for another run and created a small but ultimately unbeatable lead.

“He threw great, did a real nice job,” Giants manager Bruce Boachy said about Cain’s start, “Once again, we’re in this offensive slump. We’ve had 6 runs in 4 games. I thought we would come home and get some rips in tonight but didn’t happen”

Despite only racking up 3 strikeouts Cain was able to induce a lot of ground-ball outs and limit the damage to 1 earned run through 7.

“Tonight was definitely a tough one,” Said Cain after the game, “To going back and forth with Garcia, we just weren’t able to find a good situation to get a good hit in.”

Giants continue their Memorial Day home stand with the Braves tomorrow at 7:05
