Bochy gives update on injured Giants

SAN FRANCISCO-Saturday the San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy fielded questions about injured Giants before game two against the visiting Atlanta Braves.

The Giants outfield has been hit particularly hard with the loss of their right fielder Hunter Pence who landed on the DL the other week with a strained left hamstring. Bochy reported that his rehab was on track before the game Saturday.

“[Pence] did some 30’s and 60’s and some agility stuff and passed all those tests,” said Bochy. “He’s on schedule to start his rehab Wednesday or Thursday.”

Jarrett Parker is also working his way back into the roster after a brutal collision in outfield back in April that broke his right collarbone.

“With him taking BP today he’s probably a week away from starting his rehab.”

Pence and Parker add consistency and depth respectively to a struggling Giants outfield that has had to resort to some creative platooning while some players were on the mend.

However, not all of the news was good as Bochy reported that Conner Gillaspie had hit a snag in his rehab and the team would wait to hear from their doctors.

“He had a little set back with his rehab. He’s got some lower back tightness so he had an MRI done. Don’t know the results yet but he’ll get evaluated once the docs get here.”
