Warriors coveting Nick Young, who made improvements last year under Luke Walton

With Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston returning to the fold with new contracts in hand, the Warriors have now turned their attention to signing free agents outside of the team to help improve their already stacked roster. One name that has reportedly appeared on the Warriors radar is former Lakers’ shooting guard Nick Young.

Young has always been an entertaining albeit frustrating player. He’s just as likely to hit a contested, fade-away three in the corner as he is to brick a wide open layup. Take a look at some of Young’s career low-lights below:

However, despite some of the ridiculous antics, Young is still a solid scorer off the bench and last season under Lakers’ head coach Luke Walton, he finally turned a corner in regards to his efficiency.

Young shot career highs in both true shooting percentage (.588) and effective field goal percentage (.564) while putting up 13.2 points per game. Pretty good numbers for a bench player, especially when you consider how bad of a team he was playing with. Also under Walton, Young was a part of an offense that was somewhat styled after what the Warriors run.

If you put Young’s improved shooting touch on a sumpremely talented Warriors team, Young will get tons of wide open looks while opponents are worried about guarding the Kevin Durants and Steph Currys of the world.

Young will likely command a low salary considering his inconsistent performance in the past, but the Warriors have shown with his former teammate JaVale McGee last season, that they can bring the best out of players that have not played up to their talent in the past.

After Draymond Green posted a snapchat with Young with the caption simply stating ‘Warriors?’ it seems even more evident that Golden State will sign Nick Young if possible. If Young wants to legitimize his career and change his reputation across the league, then signing on the dotted line for the Warriors is the best move he can make.
