Still believe? Too bad, Giants World Series odds taken off board

With the All-Star break less than a week away, it may be time for certain teams to start evaluating the likelihood that they’ll be around come October.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Giants probably aren’t one of them.

Bovada, Yahoo’s online sports book, released their newest batch of World Series odds this month, and three teams were removed off the board completely.

The chosen ones? The Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and you guessed it — San Francisco Giants.

The Giants may be on a bit of a hot streak after winning six out of their last seven games, but at 33-52 they still remain three games back behind the Padres and dead last in the NL West. Only the aforementioned Phillies have a worse record at 28-54.

The Houston Astros have the highest odds for the second month in a row at 9/2. Adding insult to injury to Giants fans, the Los Angeles Dodgers jumped from sixth-highest to second-best odds at 5/1.

For a team that looked to be a possible World Series contender coming out of spring training, the Giants may take the cake for baseball’s worst collapse in 2017. The good news? The Giants front office is still looking to contend in 2018 with the same core of players. It’ll take a few moves, but their recent success streak shows that a possible postseason run in 2018 isn’t as might normally be the case.
