The NBA announced that Kevin Durant will visit India later this month to support initiatives to grow the sport of basketball in the country and work with the nation’s top prospects at The NBA Academy India.

According to a press release from the NBA, Durant will travel to New Delhi on July 27 and donate two new basketball courts to the Ramjas School through his charity foundation. Durant will then travel to Noida and become the first active NBA player to visit The NBA Academy India. He will coach the prospects at the academy through a variety of basketball drills and then head an in-person basketball clinic for 1,000 kids with an additional 4,000 kids participating in the clinic via satellite link from all over India.

“I’m excited to travel to India to help promote the game of basketball and meet the prospects at The NBA Academy India,” Durant said in the release. “I’ve wanted to visit India for a long time, and I can’t wait to experience the country’s unique culture and share my knowledge with the kids there.”

The manager of NBA India, Yannick Colaco, said he was excited to have a player of Durant’s caliber helping out the program.

“Kevin is coming off an historic season with the Golden State Warriors.” Colaco said. “Having one of the very best players in our league interact with the basketball playing youth of India will serve as great inspiration to the next generation of players here, especially the high-performing prospects at The NBA Academy India.”
