SANTA CLARA — The 49ers have sandwiched a new training hill between their practice field and weight room.
Resembling a ramp from the X-Games, the hill will occasionally be a part of players’ workout routines. Team CEO Jed York gave the hill a spin on Friday.

New offensive weapon Kyle Juszczyk said he hasn’t tried out the hill yet, but joked reviews from the bigger guys is that the hill is quite challenging.
“I’m not looking forward to it,” Juszczyk said. “I’ve seen some hills in my day, but nothing like that.”
Kyle Shanahan hired strength and conditioning coach Ray Wright and players have noted how hard he’s been pushing them. Daniel Kilgore told KNBR.com there are daily competitions in the weight room, something that did not previously exist under Chip Kelly, Jim Tomsula or Jim Harbaugh. Wright was with Shanahan in both Houston and Washington.
Unfortunately we forgot to get a Shanahan quote on the hill. It’s still training camp for reporters, too.
