Nick Hundley wanted in on Chris Stratton’s postgame interview

SAN FRANCISCO – Chris Stratton has been on a hot streak lately.

Over the last 12.2 innings of work, the rookie out of Mississippi State hasn’t given up a run. It’s the longest scoreless streak by a Giants rookie since threw 16.1 straight scoreless in 2015.

This recent success led to a relatively full group interview for Stratton following the Giants’ 2-0 win Monday night over the Milwaukee Brewers. The group then grew by one when Giants catcher Nick Hundley joined the throng to throw a couple questions at his rookie pitcher.

Stratton handled the adversity off the field as well as he did on the field, answering Hundley’s questions in stride.

“What was your thought on the punch-out?” asked Hundley.

“I was glad he swung. It was a ball,” Stratton said, laughing.

Hundley might have been goaded into the interview by the rest of the Giants pitching staff, who were congregated around a table at the back of the clubhouse to celebrate the team’s first shutout at home of 2017. You can hear the group laughing at Hundley’s questions in the video.

No word on whether Hundley has plans to join the media for Tuesday’s game. Stick with us for updates.
