It’s hard to imagine a deal that would shake the NBA more than the Kyrie Irving/Isaiah Thomas trade that occured on Tuesday.
But, was there possibly a deal that didn’t go through which could’ve shattered it?
Before dealing Irving to the Celtics, the Cavaliers reportedly reached out to the Warriors pursuing Klay Thompson.

In a column for The Undefeated, senior writer Marc Spears delved into the aspects on how Cavaliers new GM Koby Altman forced a trade to transpire after Irving had requested one, and reported that the Cavs reached out to Golden State for a Kyrie-for-Klay swap.
“It would be hard to believe that Altman could have landed a better trade than the Boston one. He did call the uninterested Warriors about Klay Thompson, a source said.”
Safe to say that would’ve been a blockbuster deal, at the very least.
Golden State faces off against Cleveland for the first time since defeating them in the Finals on Christmas Day.
