As cuts loom Bolden says he’s ‘at peace’ with performance

SANTA CLARA – Thursday night Victor Bolden potentially solidified his spot on the 53-man roster with his second punt return touchdown of the preseason.

This explosive play couldn’t have come at a better time for this undrafted player as cuts loom over the 49ers players.

“I feel like I’m more at peace you know,” Bolden said. “I just felt like I put everything out there and I’m just gonna let the chips fall where they may.”

Bolden’s opportunity appeared late in the second quarter with San Francisco ahead 10-3. Bolden received the punt at the 10-yard line and then proceeded to seemingly stroll through the Chargers defense in what resulted in a 92-yard touchdown.

Bolden’s play this preseason made a strong case for his spot but ultimately he knew the decision wasn’t his to make.

“[It’s] not under my control,” Bolden said. “That was my biggest thing, going in just focus on things that you can control….put the best thing on tape and gave it my all and if that gets me on the team so be it.”

If Victor Bolden does appear on the regular season roster he knows that it’ll be a grind.

“The biggest thing I’ve learned in the league, that’s different from college, is that you gotta go out there and prove it every day,”
