On the heels of news that the Golden State Warriors have yet to decide if they would accept an invitation to visit the White House, Stephen Curry made his strongest comments yet regarding his opposition to President Trump, and the idea making the trip to D.C.

“I don’t want to go,” Curry said at Warriors’ Media Day. “That’s kind of the nucleus of my belief. It’s different, it’s not just me going to the White House. If it was, this would be a pretty short conversation.”

Curry was then asked why specifically he doesn’t want to go, and what kind’ve message he’d hope to send.

“That we don’t stand for basically what our president, the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said in the right times and that we won’t stand for it,” Curry said. “By acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change in what we tolerate in this country and what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye to.”

Despite the strong stance, Curry is still open to discussing the matter as a team.

“Just like our country, every opinion counts and matters,” Curry said. “I can’t predict how the conversation will go, I know based on our conversations we’ve had in the past and things people have said to the media and to each other, I know where everyone pretty much kind of stands on it. We want to respect the opportunity that we have to represent not only ourselves and our beliefs, but our organization.”
