Steve Kerr: ‘I think we’ll be better this year. We’ll be deeper’

OAKLAND–The Golden State Warriors are coming off one the greatest seasons in NBA history.

And according to head coach Steve Kerr, they’ll only get better.

At Warriors’ Media Day on Friday, Kerr said he thinks that having the team’s core group of players back along with seasoned veterans who have experience playing in Golden State’s system has the potential to create a special combination.

“We’re only adding a couple of players, but having all of our vets, KD, Zaza (Pachulia) and David (West), having all of those guys comfortable and ready along with the core guys who have been here the last couple of years, I expect to have progress right away,” Kerr said. “I think we’ll be better this year. We’ll be deeper. But the challenge is obvious, three years a row in the finals, trying to make it a fourth, very few teams have done that and there’s a reason, it’s a long haul.”

Kerr said that the additions of Nick Young and Omri Casspi through free agency should help Golden State’s depth this season, and he’s impressed with the way Bob Myers has constructed the roster to afford Kerr the luxury of having a slew of former starters available off the bench.

”This year reminds me of two years ago, training camp,” Kerr said. “With the continuity, almost the exact roster coming back. Camp will be so much smoother this year than last year.”
