Frank Gore on Baalke: ‘Trent messed that team up’ [report]

Former 49ers running back Frank Gore didn’t shy away from assigning blame when asked by Ann Killion of the San Francisco Chronicle what has happened to his former team since he left in 2014.

“Trent (Baalke) messed that team up,” Gore said, referring to the former 49ers general manager who oversaw the firing of Jim Harbaugh, and the two disastrous seasons afterwards.

Gore, 34, is now the starting running back for the Indianapolis Colts, who beat the 49ers 26-23 in overtime on Sunday, but played under the Baalke regime from 2011-2014. Baalke elected not to re-sign Gore, the all-time leading rusher in 49ers franchise history after the 2014 season, the same year that the organization “mutually parted ways” with Harbaugh, who developed a close relationship with Gore during their time together. Since Harbaugh’s firing, the 49ers have gone 7-29.

Gore was also reportedly sought out 49ers CEO Jed York after the game.
