Steve Kerr: ‘The way Steph play puts the fear of God into defenses’

OAKLAND–Steph Curry has four All-Star game appearances, two MVPs and two NBA titles under his belt, yet it’s possible he’s still one of basketball’s most underappreciated stars.

In the latest survey of NBA general managers, Curry received the fifth most votes for the GMs who weighed in on the question, “Who will win the NBA MVP?”

The Warriors’ point guard didn’t even crack the top five vote-getters when GMs were asked, “If you could start a franchise today and could sign any player in the NBA, who would it be?”

But alas, Curry finished second only to Cleveland Cavaliers’ star LeBron James when general managers responded to the question: “Which player forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments?”

On Thursday, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr offered Curry the highest possible praise a coach can give a player, and didn’t hold back when asked about the type of impact Curry has on a nightly basis. Sure, Kerr hasn’t coached James, but he was teammates with Michael Jordan, and he said Curry impacts defenses more than any player he’s ever seen.

“He is the most impactful offensive player in terms of what he does to the defense, maybe ever,” Kerr said. “There’s guys, obviously Michael Jordan impacted things, but the way Steph plays puts the fear of God into defenses like nobody I’ve ever seen.”
