As several wildfire rage throughout Northern California, the Golden State Warriors are set to open their season against the Houston Rockets at Oracle Area. Consequently, a team spokesman told The Chronicle that the Warriors have decided to opt out of their renowned pyrotechnics display because of the devastation taking place.

For years, the Warriors have put together intricate and phenomenal pyrotechnics at at the start of each season.

Yet, the Warriors understand respecting the victims of these wildfires is significantly more important than keeping up that tradition. Upwards of 17 fires throughout the North Bay Area have already taken the lives of 41 people and forced over 40,000 people to evacuate.

The Warriors have teamed up with their fellow Bay Area sports teams in supporting those harmed by the fire and donated a total of $450,000 to fire relief.
