Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin shared on his Instagram account that his baby son passed away due to complications at birth. Goodwin, after scoring a 83-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard in the second quarter, dropped to his knees and looked to be praying.

He stayed on the field while being mobbed by teammates and looked as if he was injured. In retrospect, Goodwin was having a moment to obviously remember his son.

In the post, Goodwin spoke about the resilience and courage of this wife Morgan.

“Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan,” Goodwin wrote. “The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable.”

Goodwin touchdown reception was the eighth longest in 49ers history. He finished the game with one catch for 83 yards but had a number of key blocks, including one that freed tight end Garrett Celek for a 47-yard touchdown reception.
