Draymond on Cavs: ‘My concern would be LeBron playing so many minutes’

If you ask Draymond Green a question, and he wants to answer it, he’s going to do so in a calculated manner.

So when Sam Amick of USA Today asked Draymond for his take on the current state of the 7-7 Cavaliers in a one-on-one interview, Green replied simply, “Uh, they’re struggling.”

Simply and adequately put for a team that boasts the widely-agreed-upon best player in the world. Of course, it’s wise to recognize length of an NBA season- teams are mostly 13 games in, the current injury situation for Cleveland- Isaiah Thomas has yet to play for his new team as he recovers from hip surgery, and the fact that the Cavs have to introduce seven new players into their rotation.

So of course, being wise, Draymond acknowledged all of the above.

“I don’t think anyone should be panicking 12 games in, or 13 games in. However, there are some glaring concerns with them. And at the same time, you’re missing a 30-point (per game) player (in Thomas) on the bench who’s hurt. So my concern would be that LeBron is playing so many minutes right now.”

LeBron is in his 15th season and at age 32 is leading the league in minutes played at 38.1 per game, his first time doing so since the 2010-11 season. Obviously, KNBR will be all over it when the Warriors and Cavaliers face off on Christmas Day at Oracle Arena.
