Durant, Westbrook chirp at each other between plays

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook refuse to talk off the court.

But on it? That’s a different matter.

On Wednesday evening, it didn’t even take until the second half for tensions to rise and the two stars to get chippy with one another. Late in the second quarter, they took care of business on their own, and NBA fans around the world were treated to the type of star-on-star drama that they’ve come to expect.

For a brief stint late in the second quarter, Durant and Westbrook began chirping at one another, and then, during a dead ball stoppage, Durant engaged in a Stephen Jackson-esque clap after Westbrook clapped in Draymond Green’s face.

Durant told Bleacher Report last week that the wedge that exists between he and Westbrook is still too large to bring the two together for a conversation, but if Durant was on his death bed, he knows Westbrook would pay him a visit.

While their two coaches might not believe the theatrics from Wednesday night’s showdown were a good thing, Westbrook and Durant form one of the most intriguing rivalries in the league, both on and off the court.
