Following wide receiver Victor Boldin’s ankle injury sustained in the 49ers’ 26-16 victory over the Texans on Sunday, the team has signed WR Max McCaffrey off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
The #49ers sign WR Max McCaffrey off Packers practice squad, as @TomPelissero reported. Most likely to take spot of Victor Bolden, who sustained ankle injury Sunday. McCaffrey will be around to participate in 49ers’ offseason program, too.https://t.co/5xB9sFQS0Y

It is assumed that McCaffrey will be placed on the active roster if Boldin goes on the injured reserve as is expected.
McCaffrey, 23, is the son of former 49ers wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, and is the older brother of Panthers rookie running back, and Stanford alum, Christian McCaffrey.
Max McCaffrey went undrafted out of Duke in 2016, and spent time with the Raiders and Packers in his first season. McCaffrey played in five games with the Jacksonville Jaguars this season before rejoining the Packers’ practice squad in October.
McCaffrey has one career reception for four yards.
