Steve Kerr jokes about never getting his own signature shoe

OAKLAND – There are few things more American than kicking back on a holiday and watching sports.

On New Years we have huge college football bowl games. Baseball on the 4th of July just feels right. The NFL basically owns the fourth Thursday in November. And recently, the National Basketball Association has carved out it’s own holiday, Christmas day.

This year features an all-star lineup of games. The day opens at 9 a.m. when the 76ers face off against the New York Knicks, followed by the Warriors hosting some team from Ohio at Noon. Wizards vs. Celtics, Rockets vs. Thunder, and Timberwolves vs. Lakers fill the rest of the day.

Steve Kerr talked about how The Association has done a great job of owning Christmas day, and how players use the increased exposure to debut new signature shoes.

“I noticed a lot of guys opening up new pairs of shoes, because they’re debuting their shoes,” said Kerr ahead of his team’s  I never had a shoe debut on Christmas day…unfortunately. So I can envy the guys who do.”

A reporter jokingly asked Kerr if he debuted shoes on any other holiday.

“Whether it was Christmas, or like Veterans day, didn’t matter. Any holiday. You didn’t miss anything. Thanks for asking.”

We’re sorry you never got the opportunity, coach. We would’ve copped.
