SANTA CLARA – The play of the day in the 49ers’ 44-33 win over Jacksonville was undoubtedly quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s side-arm sling to rookie wide receiver Trent Taylor for a 5-yard touchdown pass.

Garoppolo slid out of the pocket to make the pass and he was moving to his left when he whipped the ball like a shortstop to a tightly covered Taylor. Garoppolo was asked in his post-game press conference if he knew what he doing with on that play.
Garoppolo, went out of character at that moment and said, “I always do”

It was a slightly cocky comment, but one that definitely suited the situation. Coach Kyle Shanahan put some perspective on a play that partially defines Garoppolo’s talent.
“Yeah, I showed him how do it,” Shanahan joked about his side-arm strike. “His body is different. He can make unusual throws from unusual angles. I joke with him in practice and call him the human jugs machine. He can make any throw at any time.”
