Ahead of Curry return, Kerr shares one of his favorite Steph moments

OAKLAND – If things go as expected, Stephen Curry will return to the court Saturday evening when Golden State Warriors play host to the Memphis Grizzlies for the second time in less than two weeks.

Before his team’s game Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets, a reporter asked Kerr what he expected from Curry if he does in fact return Saturday. Kerr pulled a line from Kevin Garnett’s famed post-NBA Championship speech to answer, responding with “Anything is possible.”

“With Steph nothing would shock me,” Kerr told reporters Wednesday. “He might make 10 straight shots. He might miss 10 in a row, then make eight. With Steph, all it is is a matter of him finding his rhythm.”

Two season ago Curry missed six of the Warriors’ first eight games of the playoffs, including the first three games of the team’s second-round matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. After starting off the game ice-cold, Curry found his rhythm on his way to a 40 point performance, including 17 in the team’s overtime win.

Kerr brought up that moment to help illustrate what could be possible when Curry hits the court for the first time in weeks.

“I do remember in the payoffs a few years ago against Portland when he came back he had missed about six games. He came back and he was like 0-for-11 to start the game and then he made his 12th shot and shimmied his way back down the court, which was one of my favorite Steph moments. The ultimate display of confidence…1-for-12, he’s shimmying. It’s awesome.”

You to be overflowing with confidence to be a successful shooter in the NBA, something Stephen Curry is not short on – as evidenced by Kerr’s story.
