A pair of San Francisco Giants greats could soon be joining several other franchise legends in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame.

According to a report from Chris Haft of MLB.com, Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum have been nominated for induction to the 2018 class of the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame as both pitchers will be listed among “contemporary nominees.”

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame includes 170 members, and 15 of those who have been enshrined have ties to the San Francisco Giants. Though former Giants’ third baseman Matt Williams was a 2017 inductee, the most recent retiree who was inducted to the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame is Barry Bonds. Former Giants’ pitching coach Dave Righetti is also a member.

Cain wrapped up a 13-year Major League career with San Francisco this fall, as the three-time All-Star turned in a memorable five-inning performance against the San Diego Padres on the final weekend of the regular season. Cain won three World Series with the Giants and owns the only perfect game in franchise history.

Lincecum last pitched for the Giants in 2015 and last pitched in the Major Leagues in 2016, but he’s apparently interested in making a comeback this season and is scheduled to throw for scouts sometime in the near future.

According to Haft, two other former Giants’ pitchers, Dave Dravecky and Mike McCormick, will also appeal on ballots. Dravecky will join Cain and Lincecum on the contemporary ballot while McCormick will be listed on the veterans’ ballot, which acknowledges athletes who performed before 1981.
