Zaza Pachulia on what fuels Warriors’ opponents: ‘They can be all over the news’

The Golden State Warriors let the game slip away from them in a disappointing 125-106 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors outscored the Clippers in both the first and second quarters and led by four points at the half, but were outscored 39-28 in the third quarter en route to the blowout loss.

Warriors starting center Zaza Pachulia joined Murph & Mac Friday morning and discussed the team’s dissatisfaction with their performance.

“You should see even (the) airplane yesterday, or the locker room (after) the game,” Pachulia said. “It was quiet, no one was happy (with) the way we performed and played, especially (on the) defensive end. So we all know what we did wrong, obviously then we watch the tape, and we saw some mistakes that we did, and it’s really unfortunate. Just literally losing your focus, and in today’s game, in basketball, anybody’s capable to beat anybody.”

Pachulia noted that the Warriors’ opponents draw extra motivation from the knowledge that a solid performance against the defending champions can earn them respect from the media.

“Especially teams that play against the best team, there’s extra energy and motivation for our opponents,” Pachulia said. “Because I’ve been on the other side, and I know how those guys feel in that locker room, where if they win and have a good game, they can be all over the news. They can prove something, that they’re capable (of beating) the best team.”
