Jimmy Garoppolo just got paid to watch this year’s Super Bowl, but it appears the betting public believes he will be playing in the game at this time next year. At 20 or 18-to-1 (depending on where you look) the 49ers have been the most popular pick to win the Super Bowl next year, according to the William Hill Race and Sports Book. If they end up winning, a $100 bet on the 49ers would award $2,000.

Despite a 6-10 record, the 49ers finished as one of the hottest teams in the NFL at the end of 2017, winning five consecutive games with Jimmy Garoppolo under center. Two of those were against playoff teams, including a 44-33 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were five points away from representing the AFC in Super Bowl LII. The 49ers also enter the offseason with over $100 million in cap space, and either the 9th or 10th overall pick in the NFL Draft depending on a coin flip with the Oakland Raiders.
According to most oddsmakers, the 49ers are ranked in the top third of teams most likely to win the Super Bowl next season.
