This year’s KNBR FanFest is behind us, but that doesn’t mean we’re done re-living the day.
Saturday we got some time with players on the San Francisco Giants, and asked them to imitate some of their teammates. We gave them a choice, either pick a batting stance or pitching motion. The results exceeded our expectations.
Jeff Samardzija led things off and was on point with a Cory Gearrin imitation. Sam Dyson, another pitcher, chose to stay on the mound and imitated Johnny Cueto’s shimmy. Brandon Crawford stayed in the infield and did Brandon Belt’s walkup and swing, while Hunter Pence did his best Brandon Crawford impression. The surprise of the afternoon came with new Giant Andrew McCutchen walked in and absolutely nailed a Hunter Pence imitation.
Not bad, Andrew. Not bad. We might have to revisit the subject with Mr. McCutchen later in the year and see if he has any more batting stances in his arsenal.
