Legendary Hall of Fame first baseman and former San Francisco Giant Orlando Cepeda was taken to the hospital on Monday night after being stricken with an undisclosed illness at the Rancho Solano Golf Course in Fairfield, California.

Team spokeswoman Staci Slaughter told the San Francisco Chronicle’s Henry Schulman of Cepeda’s incident. Units from the Fairfield Fire Department were reportedly dispatched to the Fairfield golf course at 6:04 p.m. to transport a patient, but it has yet to be confirmed if that patient was Cepeda.

Cepeda’s condition and illness are unknown, but “it is believed to be serious”, according to Schulman.

Cepeda interviewed with NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai two weeks ago and “was in great spirits” at that time, according to Mathai.

Cepeda, nicknamed the “Baby Bull”, played for the Giants from 1958 to 1966 and was an 11-time MLB All-Star.
