Kevin Durant says playing a preseason game in Seattle would be ‘dope’

OAKLAND – Wednesday afternoon word got out that the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings are planning to play a preseason game in Seattle at Key Arena this October. The Sacramento Bee reports that the deal is all but done, the two teams just have to formally sign off on the game.

Former Seattle Sonics draftee Kevin Durant would undoubtably be the centerpiece of the matchup, after being ripped from the city that drafted him a year into a career that has seen Durant win an NBA Championship and an MVP award.

Wednesday night the Golden State Warriors held their first practice after the All-Star break and Durant spoke on the possibility of the game, saying he hopes the game comes to fruition.

“The fans in Seattle definitely deserve some basketball,” Durant said. “The Seattle Sonics culture was deep. The tradition is pretty huge. You see fans that have been there for ages come to the games, still come to a random game on a Tuesday. They still coming and showing support. It was just always about the people.”
