Reporter butchers Quavo’s name, attempts to correct herself later and whiffs again

Sorry Kerith.

Let me start this article by saying we’re big fans of Kerith Burke here at KNBR. In her first year replacing Rosalyn Gold-Onwude as the Golden State Warriors sideline reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area, she’s done a terrific job. She’s at every game, every practice, asking thoughtful and insightful questions wherever she goes.

But this one was rough to watch.

After the Golden State Warriors beat the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night in the ATL, Kevin Durant gave his jersey to Migos member Quavo. Following her postgame interview with Durant, Burke reported that KD gave his jersey to the talented rapper.

Ain’t no thang. We believe Burke is woke enough to know who the Atlanta rapper is. And so she took to TV to clear the air, and correct herself once and for all:

Aaaaaalmost. Listen, we’re assuming almost no one reading (or writing) this post has been on live TV in a high-profile situation like that, so it’s easy to sit back and knock Burke for butchering his name. Still not the best look of all time.

You get a pass from us Kerith. But now you have to go listen to Culture II three times through for your penance.
