On Sunday, Rick Hurd of the Mercury News said police were searching for former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith after a warrant was issued for his arrest for misdemeanor charges of domestic violence. The following day, Smith was released by the Raiders, shortly after it was reported that he’d check himself into rehab.

Two days later, Smith resurfaced when he turned himself into a San Francisco jail on Tuesday, according to Evan Sernoffsky of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Allegedly, Smith bit his fiancé’s wrists during an argument after drinking two bottles of tequila. He then reportedly fled the scene in a black Range Rover before police officers arrived.

After five seasons in the NFL, this is Smith’s seventh legal issue he’s been involved in.

Smith reached the NFL in 2011 after being selected seventh overall by the 49ers. Smith hasn’t played a full 16-game season since 2012, when he was named a NFC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Pro as a member of the 49ers. Smith was eventually released by the 49ers in 2015, after being arrested for his third DUI.
