Curry cuts off reporter reminding him how bad Warriors used to be: ‘I remember, trust me’

OAKLAND – From 1995 to 2012, a span of 18 seasons, the Golden State Warriors managed only two winning seasons. They won a total of 536 wins in that span, averaging around 29 wins a year.

Tuesday night when the confetti fell on another Warriors win over the visiting Brooklyn Nets, the Warriors notched their 50th win on the 2017-18 campaign. It’s the fifth year in a row they’ve accomplished that feat.

After the game, a reporter asked Curry what he thought about that fact. He started to put the feat into context for Curry, stating it used to be tough for Warriors teams to win 50 games in a single year, let alone five in a row.

“I remember,” Curry interjected. “Trust me, I remember.”

Curry might know more than anyone what the turnaround feels like. His first year was the 2009-2010 season, a year the Warriors finished at 26-56…good for a .317 win percentage.

“Not many guys in that locker room remember what that was like,” Curry said. “I think I’m the only one that was here before the pre-playoff era. You don’t got to remind me. I know how tough it was, and how hard it is to win one game one NBA game, let alone 50 in a season, let alone a Championship.”

The Warriors have won 50 games, but still have 18 games left on the schedule. As of now, they hold a .781 win percentage. Finishing the season at that clip would equate to 64 wins.

“It’s pretty special man, to be in this situation,” Curry said to end his reflection.

Yes it is, Mr. Curry. Yes it is.
