Panik homers again, smashes splash hit in Giants home opener

This is getting ridiculous.

After his two solo home jacks were responsible for the Giants only runs in their four-game season opening series with the Dodgers, Joe Panik went yard again during San Francisco’s home opener on Tuesday at AT&T Park. Panik again hit a solo shot, this time off Mariners starter Marco Gonzales, belting it over the right field wall and into McCovey Cove. the run is the first scored at AT&T Park this season.

The home run put the Giants on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, cutting the Mariners’ lead 4-1. The Mariners quickly added two more in the top half of the fifth, extending their advantage 6-1. Panik is now responsible for all three runs the Giants have scored in 2018.

Giants Starter Ty Blach was chased after 4 1/3 innings, giving up 10 hits and six earned runs, four of which came in a disastrous first inning.
