Sandoval, Crawford, Belt go deep in the fifth

SAN FRANCISCO – Wednesday night the San Francisco Giants put on a show of force with an unprecedented three home runs in one inning at AT&T Park.

AT&T Park is renowned for being an unfriendly park for hitters, but for Giants third baseman, Pablo Sandoval, that didn’t seem to matter.

Sandoval scored three with his monster hit into McCovey Cove, marking the 77th splash hit since the parks inauguration in 2000. Sandoval’s personal contribution to the splash hit count stands at eight, surpassing Brandon Belt who has seven. These numbers are well behind Barry Bond’s splash hits who sit comfortably in the lead at 35. However, this home run was a welcome hit for Sandoval who has not had a splash hit since May 12th, 2013.

Brandon Crawford immediately hit a solo jack of his own into right field, putting the Giants up 9-0. This is both Crawford and Sandoval’s first home runs of the 2018 season.

The tone was set for this offensive surge when Belt lead the 5th with a homer to left.
