David West leaves Game 2 with apparent left ankle injury

OAKLAND — Warriors center David West left the fourth quarter of Game 2 with an apparent left ankle injury on Monday night, sustained when he appeared to land on the foot of Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge.

The injury took place early in the fourth quarter with Golden State up 88-77. Head coach Steve Kerr was forced to take a timeout as West hobbled up the court. West consulted with trainers briefly on the sideline before heading to the locker room. He has not returned to the Warriors bench at the time of this writing.

Already without Stephen Curry, losing West for an extended period would be another unfortunate blow. West has anchored the Warriors bench lineup all year, and has been arguably the most consistant of the team’s many centers.

West, 37, had 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 14 minutes before exiting on Monday night.
