Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown is on a shortlist of candidates the New York Knicks are considering for their head coaching vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Brown was the last candidate to interview for the position which the Knicks are hoping to fill this week.

Along with Brown, Former Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer, former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt are reportedly considered to be among the top candidates to fill the opening.

Other candidates the Knicks have interviewed include former Golden State Warriors head coach and Knicks guard Mark Jackson, former Knicks head coach and current Los Angeles Clippers assistant Mike Woodson, Miami Heat assistant Juwan Howard, San Antonio Spurs assistant James Borrego, Boston Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga, Raptors 905 G League head coach Jerry Stackhouse and television analyst Kenny “The Jet” Smith.

Brown, 48, won the NBA Coach of the Year in 2009 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and has a 347-216 record in eight seasons — six with the Cavs, two with the Lakers — as a head coach. Brown went 33-49 in 2013-14 with the Cavaliers in his most recent season holding the clipboard.

Brown has been a Warriors assistant since 2016, and took over head coaching duties last postseason for an ailing Steve Kerr. Golden State, who lost just one postseason game last year en route to a second title in three seasons, went 12-0 under Brown’s stewardship.
