In a matter of a year, the 49ers went from one of the worst NFL squads, stuck amid a rebuild, to one of the league’s most anticipated teams entering the 2018-19 season.
The 49ers have a 18-1 chance to win Super Bowl LIII, tied for the seventh-best odds of any NFL team, on Bovada sportsbook’s website. They also have the seventh-best odds to win the NFC at 11-1.
The teams with better odds to win the Super Bowl are, in order of best odds to worst, the Patriots, Eagles, Rams, Steelers, Vikings, and Packers. The Saints have the same 18-1 odds as the 49ers.
On Feb. 5, Bovada gave the 49ers 20-1 odds, the 10th-best of any team, to win Super Bowl LIII. Since then, they have signed Richard Sherman, Jerick McKinnon, and Weston Richburg, among a solid draft turnout, to augment expectations.
Last February, the 49ers had the lowest odds to win Super Bowl LII at 150-1, tied with the Browns.
How times have changed.
Prior to the 2017 season, the 49ers were coming off a 2-14 campaign, with John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan set to begin their first season as the new 49ers brass. One year later, they have cemented their franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo, who led San Francisco to five straight wins to close out last season, and surrounded him with a roster seemingly prepared to win now.
