Hunter Pence seems to be experimenting with new batting stance

Hunter Pence has been rehabbing his right thumb issue with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats since April 27. Pence seems to be improving after an incredibly rough start with the Giants, where he posted a slash line of .172/.197/.190 in 58 at-bats. With the River Cats, Pence has a .294 batting average in nine games.

Most interesting, however, is that Pence appears to be trying out a new batting stance, as first pointed out by Giant Potential on Twitter. For context, here is Andrew McCutchen doing an imitation of the famous hyperactive stance Pence has used throughout his career.

Maybe a change is what Pence needs. The three-time All-Star outfielder hasn’t quite looked the same at the plate since the 2016 season, and combined with consistant injuries, it has led some to question just how long the 35-year old has left.

Pence has been on the shelf since April 18, but could return to the Giants by the end of the week according to Rotoworld.
